Content Optimization Checklist

  1. __ Login to your blog content management system (CMS)
     
  2. __ Login to http://analytics.google.com   
     
  3. __ Login to http://www.ranks.nl Page Analyzer 
     
  4. __ Open keyword research list or use your keyword research tool of choice
     
  5. __ Login to http://www.bit.ly 
     
  6. __ Copy and save your draft blog post into your optimization environment
     
  7. __ Select 2 target keyword phrases and 2-4 supporting keyword phrases for optimization 
     
  8. __ Check keyword density using Ranks.nl PageAnalyzer to determine if the target keyword phrases are sufficiently high in density

  9. __ Optimize the blog title with target keyword phrases (68-70 characters including spaces - use both keyword phrases 1x)
     
  10. __ Optimize the blog body using target keyword phrases (256 characters including spaces - use keyword phrases up to 2x's, placing as far left as possible)
     
  11. __ Create an optimized blog description using target keyword phrases
     
  12. __ Create user friendly links within the blog body using target keyword phrases – these are links to other pages within your owned domains [crosslinking] or to other domains-- avoid the use of “click here” type anchors
     
  13. __ Remove hyperlinks to sources-- you do not want to send visitors away
     
  14. __ Open hyperlinks that take the reader off the domain in a new window
     
  15. __ Add alt text using target keyword phrases (if possible) if an image is a part of the contextual meaning of the post or takes a visitor somewhere within your own domains-user friendly description, (no keyword stuffing)
     
  16. __ If the image does not add contextual meaning, leave the alt text blank
     
  17. __ Check keyword density using Ranks.nl PageAnalyzer to determine if the target keyword phrases are sufficiently high in density
     
  18. __ Post or schedule your blog
     
  19. __ Add an annotation in Google Analytics "Blog:[blog title]
     
  20. __ Shorten the blog url using www.bitly.com
     
  21. __ Create a base description to be used to push to Social channels
  22. __ Post to LinkedIn (groups, business page) 
  23. __ Keep track of LinkedIn groups
  24. __ Post and schedule to Twitter
  25. __ Post to Facebook 
  26. __ Post to Pinterest
